5 Skin Care Must Haves for That Goddess-Like Glow
As a former acne sufferer, my favorite compliments to get as an adult are about my skin. If I could go back in time and tell my 15-year old self that one day complete strangers would compliment her glow and inquire about her beauty secrets…well, she’d probably chuck the Accutane and start working on a time machine.
Because I dealt with decades of problematic skin, I never take a good skin day for granted, even if they string into good skin weeks, months, and years. That being said, I’ve also learned over the years to stick with what works and stop spending buckets of money on potions, lotions, and creams to pile on my face.
So, from my years of professional acne sufferer wisdom, here’s my stripped-down, but still magical list of skin care essentials.
Essential #1: True Botanicals Clear Radiance Oil
Though admittedly pricey, this face oil is totally worth the splurge for clearing acne, reducing fine lines, and increasing your overall glow. If I had to commit to a solitary skin care item for the rest of my life, it would definitely be this product. I’d call it a desert island must have if that phrase didn’t reek of first world problems…let’s just say I’d sorely miss it when I chose food and actual survival tools instead.
Need an alternative? Mad Hippie Antioxidant Oil is equally eco-conscious and almost as glow-worthy for those on a limited budget.
Essential #2: Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerine Spray
If you’re into essential oils, you’ve likely heard that rose is one of the highest vibration (and highest priced) essential oils on the market. Therefore, I like to think of this spray as a cheaper, multipurpose version of aromatherapy. It’s the best facial spray I’ve found to calm and hydrate my hyper-sensitive skin.
Want an extra helping of woo? This formula is supposedly recommended for skin health by The Sleeping Prophet, Edgar Cayce.
Essential #3: Look Alive CBD Facial Moisturizer
Though I was admittedly skeptical about another celebrity skin care brand, this stuff really knocked my socks off. Granted, what else would you expect from the wholesome trustworthy-ness of Kristen Bell? Not only does my sensitive skin love the calming powers of this product’s CBD, the clean ingredient formula packed full of Hyaluronic Acid really does seem to plump my skin into a juicy glow.
Don’t do drugs? As Kristen herself has repeatedly said: CBD won’t get you high, but you can use our links to get a discount which is sort of like a drug.
Essential #4: Esmee Gua Sha Facial Tools
I got into facial massage around the time I discovered mewing and I can’t believe my beauty routine went so long without it! Learning how to properly massage out fluid and tension with gua sha has transformed the overall look of my skin and helps to iron out any signs I haven’t slept well each morning.
Eco-friendly alternative: You can purchase a steel alternative if you’re concerned about sustainability in the crystal market (or just scared of breaking the more fragile stones).
Essential #5: SolaWave 4-in-1 Facial Wand
Worn down by the Instagram algorithm, I purchased this wonder wand last year. It’s got micro-current, facial massage, red light therapy, and therapeutic heat all in a device so small you can carry around in a pencil case. I’ve definitely seen an improvement in the evenness of my skin’s tone since I started using this. As for if it’s really helping to keep my collagen kicking, only time will tell.
